Part 1. A2. Elementary.

Looking for a Vacancy

I am looking for a job in marketing.
I check new vacancies every morning.
This job is full-time and starts in May.
Do you know any good job sites?
I do not want to work night shifts.

Reading the Job Ad

The ad says they need two years of experience.
The salary is not in the advert, unfortunately.
They offer paid holidays and free lunch.
Is the office far from the city centre?
The company looks small but friendly.

My CV

My CV is two pages long.
I put my last three jobs on it.
My English is intermediate, and I am still learning.
Could you look at my CV, please?
I attached my CV to the email.

Sending an Application

I would like to apply for this position.
I sent ten applications last week.
Nobody answered me for five days.
How long should I wait for an answer?
Today I got an invitation to an interview!

Arranging the Meeting

The interview is on Tuesday at eleven.
Could we meet a bit later, please?
What is the address of your office?
Is the interview online or in person?
I will be there ten minutes early.

At the Interview

Nice to meet you, thank you for your time.
I worked as a shop assistant for two years.
Sorry, could you repeat the question?
I am good with people and I learn fast.
When can I expect your answer?

The First Day at Work

I start on Monday at nine.
Everyone in the team was very nice to me.
Where can I get a coffee here?
I did not understand everything, but I wrote it down.
My first week was hard and really interesting.

Part 2. B1. Intermediate.

Tailoring Your CV to the Job

I tailored my CV to the job description before sending it.
My old CV was three pages long, so I cut it down.
Should I put my hobbies on a CV or not?
I moved my recent projects to the top of the page.
Nobody reads a CV full of empty words like hardworking.

Writing a Cover Letter

A short cover letter works better than a long one.
In the first line I explain why I want this job.
I never send the same letter to two companies.
How personal should a cover letter really be?
I mention one project of theirs that I honestly like.

Applying and Talking to Recruiters

I applied for five positions this week alone.
A recruiter messaged me on LinkedIn about a similar role.
Could you tell me more about the team and the product?
They promised to get back to me by Friday.
I follow up politely if I hear nothing for a week.

The Phone Screening

The first call usually lasts about twenty minutes.
I keep my CV and a glass of water in front of me.
Sorry, could you repeat the last question, please?
I stand up during phone interviews because my voice sounds better.
Is it normal to feel nervous on a screening call?

Telling Your Story

Tell me about yourself is the question I prepare most.
I describe my career in three steps, not in ten.
Let me walk you through my last two roles.
My answer takes two minutes, and then I stop talking.
I do not repeat my whole CV out loud.

Questions for the Employer

At the end I always have three questions ready.
What does a typical week look like in this role?
How do you measure success in the first six months?
Asking about holidays first makes a strange impression.
Their answers tell me as much as my own do.

The Test Task

They sent me a test task with a three-day deadline.
How long is this task supposed to take?
I asked for one extra day and they agreed.
I would not spend a whole week on an unpaid task.
With the task I sent a short note about my decisions.

Part 3. B2. Upper-Intermediate.

Why You Left Your Last Job

I left because I had stopped learning anything new there.
Speaking badly about a former boss never pays off.
The company changed direction, and my role no longer fitted.
How honest should I be about being made redundant?
I was ready to take on more responsibility than they could offer.

Strengths and Weaknesses

My strongest side is staying calm under pressure.
Saying I am a perfectionist sounds fake to everyone.
I used to take on too much and burn out quietly.
Now I ask for help earlier, and it has changed everything.
Do you have a weakness you can talk about honestly?

Behavioural Questions

Tell me about a time you disagreed with your manager.
I answer with a situation, my actions and the result.
A real example beats a perfect story every single time.
Once I missed a deadline, and I explain what I learned.
Vague answers make the interviewer dig even deeper.

Talking About Salary

Could you give me a ballpark figure for this position?
I try not to name my number first.
My expectations are based on the market, not on wishes.
Talking about money is awkward until you practise it.
I would rather negotiate the whole package than the salary alone.

The Offer and the Terms

They sent the offer by email on Tuesday morning.
Would it be possible to have a couple of days to decide?
I read the probation period clause twice before signing.
My notice period at the current job is one month.
The remote days mattered to me more than the bonus.

Rejection and Feedback

They went with another candidate who had more industry experience.
One company simply ghosted me after the final round.
Could you share any feedback that might help me improve?
I do not take rejection personally any more.
The feedback I got was worth more than the job itself.

Your First Weeks in the Job

I wanted to hit the ground running from day one.
In the first week I mostly listened and took notes.
Asking basic questions early saves you months of confusion.
Who should I talk to about getting access to the system?
By the end of my probation I felt part of the team.
